Starting this month (January 2026)…people who have defaulted on their student loans will begin to have their wages garnished
I agree that if you incur a debt you should pay it back. What I do NOT agree with is predatory lending practices coupled with unforgivable debts distributed to people with a lack of knowledge how they’re going to pay for these debts in the future.
Personal finance is an emerging topic of interest as an entire generation has normalized the idea that they just won’t be able to afford houses or the life their parents or grandparents had.
So, yes, it’s time for a discussion about school and what value it has in our society and what price should be placed on obtaining at…and ultimately at what cost.
